Sam-dit-turbos debuted in the fall of 2009. The goal of this program is to address the verbal and non-verbal communication needs of children with autism, and the social skills of autistic children aged 5 to 16. The unique approach aims to develop language and communication skills as well as fine and global motor skills within a socialization framework.

Rather than working one by one, according to the traditional model, SFOA chose to innovate by offering group speech therapy. Sam-dit Turbos’ team is made up of speech therapists, speech therapists, and animators, supervised by experienced speech therapists in autism.

Children work in small groups on a variety of learning activities specifically designed to meet their specific needs. This program is offered on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. from September to June. Every child receives intervention in speech therapy and motor activity.

This program is offered to children aged 5 to 16 who are diagnosed with autism and who are verbal, able to formulate subject-verb-complement sentences, and who are able to follow group instructions.

The program’s stakeholders are employees with experience in the field of autism, often having previously worked in an SFOA program. Interventions are led by speech-language pathologists and dedicated specialists.
